The "Pôle Grands Prédateurs" (Pole Large Predators) organizes an International Symposium in Decembre and a week of activities on the theme of large predators.
The conference theme is « Living with large predators in Europe » and the experiences of 6 countries (France, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Romania) will be presented by speakers through 3 modules :
Communication : To get to know the species that were used to be denigrated.
Coexistence : To assure a effective protection of the humans activities which can be damaged pouvant subir des dégâts (herds, beehives, fruit trees)
Valuation : To use the image of large predators to valuate a geographic zone and traditional humans activities (agriculture, beekeeping, crafts…).

I will make an intervention at this symposium, so I shall be very glad you came! :D

The last step!

The last part of the project is to study the perception of people towards the lynx, I made a questionnaire that several Swedish people answered already. But I need more answers so that the questionnaire were significant.

Do not hesitate to do it and to send it to a lot of people to help the project :) (for Swedish only!):

The result will be published on the NaturiLynx website in November. It will compare the French perception and the Swedish perception.

Coming soon!

Now the report is finished! I have already done it in French but I have to translate everything in english. As I’m doing another project in Argentine for the moment, the report in english will be published in August.

If you are interested, do not hesitate to contact me to receive it :)

The lynx of the Jura photographed by camera traps - Study 2011

A scientific study was conducted by hunting federations of Jura and Doubs, ONCFS, the ONC and the National Centre for Studies and Applied Research (CNERA) thanks to many camera-traps. The first in France!
The results were made official and concluded at a density of an individual lynx per 100 km ², which is close to figures found by the KORA in a study conducted in Switzerland.

This study also permitted to photograph a lot of lynx of our Juraforest!

BBC Wildlife Camera-trap Photo of the Year 2011: The Winners!

This photo is the lucky winner of 2011 BBC Wildlife (category camera-trap photo). The lynx was caught by camera trap in Switzerland. You can view the other winning photos on the website BBC Wildlife:

Two lynx were victims of a collision car in the region of Doubs (France)

The corpse of a young lynx was discovered on the night of Monday 17th to Tuesday, October 18th in the area of Fuans (25 - Doubs) towards the "Fins".

Last Sunday, October 23 to 19h, a young 23 years old man hit a female lynx on the main road of "Les Gras". On Monday morning, a guard of the ONCFS (National Hunting and Wildlife Agency) came to see the death of the animal and recover its body.

Human activity is now the leading killer of adult lynx in France so pay attention and drive carefully!

A french report about wolves and lynx

A french report went on October 5th on France 3 in the TV show "Enquête de région" (Region Investigation) : the subject was "In the footsteps of the wolf."

It goes around the current problem of wolves and draws a parallel with the lynx (see minute 36' of the report). This survey is very interesting to watch because the main categories of persons involved in the lynx appear:

(in order of appearance)

- Emmanuel Cretin from the association LPO Franche-Comte
- Gilles Moyne, director of the care center ATHENAS
- Patrice Raydelet, founder of the association “Pôle Grands Prédateurs” (Pole Large Predators)
